Green Built Alliance is making a difference both locally and regionally through community resources including: Green-Building certification programs (such as Green Built Homes, Green Gauge and LEED For Homes), offering checklists for new and existing homes, as well as our local carbon-offsetting flagship, Appalachian Offsets, who recently installed solar panels for an Asheville elementary school. We pride ourselves on enhancing the community with our net zero energy buildings. This includes, but is not limited to: installing solar panels, calculating our carbon footprint and striving to reduce that number year over year, and providing individuals with resource guides and green built benefits to reduce energy costs.
We marked our 20th anniversary in early 2021, and we are pleased to continue offering our services to the local community. Whether we are aiding in the funding for environmental sustainability in the form of solar panels or providing businesses with innovative methods to implement zero-energy structures, the well-being of the environment is at the forefront of our minds. Green Built Alliance was created with a goal of creating structures using processes that are environmentally responsible and resource-efficient throughout the life-cycle of a development and implementing those practices into as many homes and businesses as possible.
We invite you to explore our programs menu to get a better sense of the work we do in Western North Carolina and beyond to advance sustainability in the built environment through community education, measurable standards and regional action. There are many ways to get involved in the work we do, including becoming a member of our organization or volunteering to support our initiatives.
