Continuing Ed: Indoor Air Quality: Beyond the Basics for Contractors – CEC.03374

Build healthier homes by making smarter choices about moisture, materials, and indoor contaminants that affect the air homeowners breathe.
The choices made during construction can have a lasting impact on the air homeowners breathe every day. This course goes beyond the basics of indoor air quality to explore practical strategies for identifying and reducing indoor contaminants, managing moisture risks specific to North Carolina homes, and selecting lower-emitting materials. Participants will learn builder-focused approaches that support healthier indoor environments while improving comfort, durability, and long-term homeowner satisfaction.

Instructors: Amy Musser
Amy is co-founder and principal of VandeMusser Design, PLLC, founded in 2002. Amy received her Bachelors and Ph.D. degrees in Architectural Engineering and an M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University. She is an active member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), and has previously held a faculty position in Architectural Engineering at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and as a researcher in the Indoor Air Quality group at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg, MD.
