Knock out your 2026 Mandatory Course and four of your six elective continuing education hours in one practical CE Power Block designed for North Carolina general contractors.

In addition to the Mandatory Course (CEC.10018), this six-hour package includes two interactive, builder-focused courses that dig into decisions that directly affect home performance. Lowering HERS Scores Through Smarter Building Decisions – CEC.03383 uses real-world, choose-your-own-adventure-style scenarios to explore how different building choices affect HERS scores, where the biggest opportunities for improvement are, and how to navigate tradeoffs involving design, budget, and site constraints.

Green Building Design 1: Devil Is in the Details (Thermal Envelope) – CEC.03385 explores how small design decisions can have a big impact on cost, constructability, and performance. Participants will work through real-world thermal envelope challenges, consider multiple solutions, and learn how better detailing early in the design process can prevent problems, improve performance, and make construction easier.

Complete six hours of continuing education in one block, including the Mandatory Course required for license renewal, while gaining practical strategies you can put to work on your next project.

Instructors: Amy Musser, Matt Vande, & Green Built Alliance

Amy is co-founder and principal of VandeMusser Design, PLLC, founded in 2002. Amy received her Bachelors and Ph.D. degrees in Architectural Engineering and an M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University. She is an active member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), and has previously held a faculty position in Architectural Engineering at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and as a researcher in the Indoor Air Quality group at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg, MD.

Matt is also a co-founder and principal of VandeMusser Design, PLLC, and received his Bachelor of Architecture degree and an M.S. degree in Architectural Engineering from Pennsylvania State University. Matt has extensive experience in the building and designing of energy-efficient homes. When not hugging trees, Matt can often be found hiking in the mountains around Western North Carolina with Bear and Amy.
