Energy Efficiency Apprenticeship

Energy Savers Network is seeking reliable, enthusiastic, and motivated individuals of high school and college age to participate in our Energy Efficiency Apprenticeship. The Energy Efficiency Apprentice will complete an 8-week job training program that provides hands-on experience in the green sustainable economy. 

Apprentices will learn about energy efficiency and the ways we use and can reduce energy in our community, and gain valuable skills to secure jobs in the sustainability workforce. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested and/or passionate about social and environmental justice while making a positive impact in their community.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assist with home energy audits and assessments
  • Assist with the installation of energy-efficiency and weatherization measures in clients’ homes
  • Provide support to the Energy Efficiency team 
  • Attend training sessions and workshops to learn about energy efficiency and sustainability
  • Perform data entry and analysis to support program evaluation
  • Participate in community outreach events 
  • Spend approximately 15-18 hours per week in the field performing energy efficiency work (Tuesday-Thursday)
  • Spend approximately 4-6 hours per week in the classroom or on field trips (Fridays)
  • Create a portfolio of work to present to potential employers that includes all the skills learned during the program

Compensation:

  • $15/hour

Qualifications:

  • Young individuals 16-21 years old – BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) and LGBTQ+ highly encouraged to apply
  • Interest in social and/or environmental justice 
  • No previous experience required, just willingness to learn
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and take initiative
  • Attention to detail 
  • Basic computer skills, including Google Suite and data entry
  • Speak Spanish? You could be paid more for your bilingual work in the field!
