Double Your Dollar Toward School Solar With Our Matching Grant

Nonprofit news

After the hustle and bustle of Black Friday and the frenzied online deal-grabbing of Cyber Monday, comes #GivingTuesday: a one-day annual movement geared toward charitable giving.

We recognize that there are many demands on your time and budget, and to make your year-end donation dollars go even further this holiday season, we’re excited to have a matching grant for our Appalachian Offsets program, which is currently fundraising to install a solar system on the roof of Isaac Dickson Elementary School in Asheville.

The Appalachian Offsets program offers the chance to support local clean-energy projects while reducing your carbon footprint with a tax-deductible donation, and this school project in particular will have a lasting legacy in the lives of the next generation.

Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, we have secured a matching grant of $110,000 toward Isaac Dickson’s solar system. With nearly $14,000 in tax-deductible contributions made toward the project so far, we have less than $100,000 remaining to raise from the community.

We know there are many worthy nonprofits vying for your patronage this season, and appreciate your ongoing support of Green Built Alliance’s mission of advancing sustainability in the built environment through our many community-focused programs.

If you’d rather support us in other ways beyond the Appalachian Offsets program, here are a handful of other quick, affordable ways you can contribute to the work we are doing in Western North Carolina today.

  1. Become a member or renew your membership today! Whether your membership is active, lapsed or nonexistent (so far!), we’re always grateful for new and returning members who value the work we do and benefits we offer to our network of engaged residents and building professionals.
  2. Make a tax-deductible donation to our nonprofit as a whole directly on our website. With the end of the year upon us, this is a great time to make a donation in any amount to support our programs and reduce your tax liability at the same time.
  3. Donate to Green Built Alliance through Mountain Xpress’ GiveLocal campaign. The fundraiser offers special perks and incentives for giving.
  4. Follow this link so Green Built Alliance receives a portion of your online holiday shopping through AmazonSmile. Once you set us up as your designated charity, we’ll receive 0.5% of the price of your eligible future Amazon.com purchases. Every little bit helps, and this is a passive way you can support us with purchases you’re already making this holiday and all year long.

We are grateful for all of the many ways you fund your ideals and give back to our community—this season and year-round! Thanks for your support of Green Built Alliance!
