Green Built Homes Highlights: February 2018 Affordable Housing

Green Built Alliance would like to recognize Asheville Area Habitat for HumanityUnion-Anson County Habitat for Humanity and Hendersonville’s Housing Assistance Corporation for completing certification of affordable Green Built Homes in February!

These nonprofit organizations have made a commitment to building healthy, sustainable homes that are affordable to live in. Building a green home invests in durability and efficiency, both of which will save homeowners money for the life of the home, keeping money in the pockets of people who need it most.

All of the homes certified in February have high-efficiency heating and cooling, above-code insulation, air-tight construction, efficient ventilation systems, low-flow water fixtures, low-VOC materials, durable roofing and siding materials.

Each of the organizations listed above also works through the NC Housing Finance Agency and the SystemVision programs to guarantee heating and cooling costs, often as low as $25 per month.

To date, there have been 435 homes certified through the Green Built Alliance that meet affordable housing guidelines.
